FAQs

General Usage

Can the GT Freedom clean pool steps?

Pool steps vary in size and shape. While the GT Freedom handles many common step types, some—especially shorter, narrower ones—may be challenging. We recommend brushing any debris on the steps onto the pool floor, allowing the robot to pick it up more effectively.

How long can I leave the robot in the pool?

For optimal performance, remove the robot after each cleaning cycle and clean the filter basket. Using Madimack's robotic filter cleaner ensures all dirt, debris, and oils are properly removed.

What is the minimum water level required for operation?

The GT Freedom operates in pools with depths between 0.4 and 3 meters. It will automatically stop running if the water depth is below 40 cm to protect the motor.

Can the GT Freedom be used in winter or near-freezing temperatures?

The robot operates in temperatures between 4°C and 35°C. It is not recommended for use in near-freezing conditions.

Can the GT Freedom clean my spa?

To ensure the best performance and longevity of your robot, we strongly advise against using it in spas with temperatures above 35°C.

Battery & Charging

Why doesn’t the battery last as long as stated?

Battery endurance is determined under controlled conditions (clean pool, minimal slope, balanced water chemistry). Real-world factors like clogged filters, water chemistry, temperature, and incline may reduce battery life by up to 25% in extreme conditions. If you're concerned about battery performance, Madimack offers service testing.

How long does it take to charge the battery?
  • i30: 3 hours
  • i45: 4.5 hours
  • i60: 6 hours
  • i80: 8 hours
Does running wall and floor cleaning reduce battery life?

Yes, selecting both wall and floor modes will reduce run time compared to floor-only cleaning.

What should I do if my GT Freedom isn't charging?

Ensure the magnetic cap is not inserted, as this can interfere with charging.

How do I reset the GT Freedom?

Insert the magnetic cap for 2 seconds and then remove it to reset the robot. If I'm not using the robot for more than 14 days, is there any maintenance needed? Insert the magnetic cap and leave it in place to protect the battery.

Operation & Features

How do I retrieve the robot from the pool?

The GT Freedom will move to the closest wall when the battery is low or after completing its cycle. Use the retrieval hook (included as an accessory) to remove it from the pool.

How do I know which GT Freedom model is best for my pool?

Use our online sizing tool to determine the best model for your pool.

Why isn't my GT Freedom climbing the walls?

Several factors can affect wall-climbing performance:

  • Poor water chemistry
  • A full or clogged filter basket
  • Battery level below 30%
  • Pool jets disrupting the robot's movement
What do the indicator lights mean?
  • 1 green light: 30-minute cleaning cycle
  • 2 green lights: 1-hour cleaning cycle
  • 3 green lights: 2-hour cleaning cycle
  • No lights: Battery is low- continuous operation until the battery is depleted

Wi-Fi & App Connectivity

Can I use the WiFi app while the robot is in the water?

No. Wi-Fi does not work underwater, so the GT Freedom cannot be turned on or off via the app while submerged.

What Wi-Fi requirements does the GT Freedom have?

The GT Freedom connects to the app only when using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.
